Career
Medicine. I was drawn by how well the gears of life: molecules, cells, tissues, organs, systems run together so smoothly and efficiently, creating a state of almost perfect yet fragile equilibrium called life.
And how modern medicine can restore this equilibrium relatively quickly, safely, and with precision when it is distorted by disease.
Most claim lofty noble motives like wanting to save lives. I mean, it is part of the job. But I was drawn by the beauty of the theory of medicine and how well it holds when applied to real-world situations.
